Desirae Hendricks Patterson

Hutto ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Desirae Hendricks Patterson as Principal of Howard Norman Elementary School for the upcoming school year following approval by the Board of Trustees on July 16.

 

“Words cannot express how thrilled I am to be returning to Howard Norman. I'm excited about the opportunity to inspire excellence with my family in the Howard Norman community,” said Patterson. “I am looking forward to using the Leader in Me pillars to make waves in leadership, culture, and academics.”

Mrs. Patterson is no stranger to Hippo Nation since her arrival to the District in 2020. She most recently served as Principal of Hutto ISD’s River Horse Academy (RHA) and Hutto Virtual Academy (HVA) — a position that was filled this week by Ms. Holly Wells, former associate principal of Hutto High School.

This fall, Patterson begins her 15th year of service in public education which includes roles as high school science teacher in Austin ISD, as well as College & Career Assessment Specialist and Campus Testing Coordinator in Round Rock ISD. She gained valuable experience as an administrative intern at AISD’s Reagan Early College High School and also served as that school’s AVID Strategies Trainer.

Patterson came to Hutto ISD mid-school year to start 2020 as assistant principal of Howard Norman Elementary School.

Patterson is on track to earn her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in May 2025 from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, after completing a Master of Educational Administration at Lamar University and earning her Bachelor of Science in multidisciplinary sciences from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
