Assistant Principal's Message
Mrs. Amy Sutton
Dear HNES Families and Community,
I am Amy Sutton, the Assistant Principal at Howard Norman Elementary. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the students, staff and parents/guardians of HNES, and to continue encouraging each of our students to be leaders on this campus and in the world.
I come into this role with 18 years of experience as an educator. I started my experience as a 1st grade teacher for two years in Huntsville ISD. I then came to Hutto ISD where I spent the next 15 years as a general education, and eventually special education, teacher at Ray Elementary, Nadine Johnson Elementary, and Howard Norman Elementary. I then accepted an administrative position as Special Programs Coordinator in Milano ISD. My heart belonged in Hutto so I came back as quickly as I could and am excited to begin my journey as Assistant Principal with my HNES family!
One of my goals as an administrator is to advocate for all students and their needs. I will support students by helping them identify strategies that will help them be successful both in and out of the classroom. I will help teachers become masters of their craft. I will equip them with strategies and resources that will help them reach each student where they are so our students can grow academically and socially. I will also provide support to parents to ensure their child’s needs are being met and that we are creating the best team and environment possible to ensure their child’s success.
